About Candido

The Story of Candido

Candido Collective was founded by Harry Bell in London, inspired by his travels in Portugal, and built with younger, adventurous film photographers in mind, the brand's own tagline notes it's for people who "spend more on flights than film." It's a young, boutique operation rather than a long-established manufacturer.

Candido doesn't coat its own film. Its three colour stocks are built on genuine Kodak Vision3 motion picture film, with the remjet backing layer removed so it can be processed using standard C-41 chemistry rather than the specialist ECN-2 process cinema film normally requires, the same general approach used by CineStill, giving Candido's films a similar cinematic glow around bright highlights.

Candido's Camera Film Ranges

Candido 200 is based on Kodak Vision3 200T tungsten-balanced stock, Candido 400 on Vision3 250D daylight-balanced stock, and Candido 800 on Vision3 500T, a faster tungsten-balanced option suited to low light. All three are 35mm colour negative films sold in 36-exposure rolls, each carrying the distinctive halation glow around highlights that comes from removing the remjet layer.

Choosing the Right Candido Film

For bright daylight shooting, reach for Candido 400. For night photography and artificial light, Candido 800 delivers that glowing, cinematic look around streetlights and neon signs, while Candido 200 sits in between. If you love the CineStill aesthetic and want to try a newer alternative, Candido is worth exploring. Compare Candido film prices on Filmproof.
