About CineMot

The Story of CineMot

CineMot grew out of Maquinas de Outros Tempos, a vintage camera shop and film lab established in Porto, Portugal, in 2012. The film brand itself is a more recent extension of that business, built around a genuine sustainability focus, CineMot repacks existing film stock into recycled canisters rather than using new packaging for every roll.

CineMot doesn't manufacture its own emulsion. Instead, it sources existing film stock and respools it under its own branding, with each product named after a Portuguese place, cultural reference or figure, from Acores and Algarve to Lisboa 1999 and Porto 1987, giving the range a distinctly local, characterful identity.

CineMot's Camera Film Ranges

CineMot's range spans both colour and black and white 35mm film, each named after a piece of Portuguese geography or culture, such as Coimbra, Fado and Pessoa, alongside city-specific stocks like Porto 1987 and Lisboa 1999. Exact specifications vary by product, but the range is designed for photographers who enjoy a strong sense of place and story behind each roll.

Choosing the Right CineMot Film

CineMot is less about chasing a specific technical spec and more about picking a name and story that resonates with you, each roll doubles as a small tribute to Portuguese culture and place. It's an especially fitting choice for anyone photographing travels in Portugal, or simply wanting a film with genuine character. Compare CineMot film prices on Filmproof.
