Foma Bohemia traces its origins back to 1919, when a group of engineers established a photographic plate manufacturer in Prague. In 1921, production moved to Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic, operating under the name Fotochema for most of the twentieth century before privatisation in 1995 established the company as Foma Bohemia.
Throughout decades of Central European photographic manufacturing, Foma developed and refined its own traditional emulsion technology, which remains largely unchanged in character today, giving Fomapan its distinctive classic grain and tonal rendering, quite different from the more modern tabular-grain emulsions used by some competitors. Foma remains one of the last independent, family-owned traditional film manufacturers in the world, producing black and white film, paper and chemistry from its Czech factory.

Fomapan R100 is a black and white reversal film, producing positive slides rather than negatives. The range is available across 35mm, 120 and sheet film formats, plus bulk rolls for photographers who load their own cassettes.
