Reto, short for "Reinvent Together", is a Hong Kong company founded in 2018, best known for its retro-inspired film cameras such as the Ultra Wide & Slim and the licensed Kodak Ektar H35 half-frame camera. Building on that camera business, Reto later launched its own line of 35mm colour film under the Retocolor name.
Reto isn't a film manufacturer in the traditional sense, its Retocolor films are sourced from emulsion producers elsewhere, including manufacturers in Germany, rather than coated in-house. The brand's focus is on approachable, well-designed products that make film photography feel fun and accessible, particularly for photographers picking up their first film camera.
Retocolor comes in several distinct looks: Prism, Glow, Aqua and Mosaic, mostly rated at ISO 400 with some ISO 100 options, all using standard C-41 colour processing and DX coding for compatibility with automatic cameras. Each variant is designed with its own colour character, from the warmer tones of Prism to the softer, dreamier rendering of Glow and Aqua.
New to film and want an easy, reliable colour stock with DX coding for point-and-shoot cameras? Retocolor Prism or Mosaic are good everyday choices. For a softer, more atmospheric look, try Glow or Aqua. Compare Reto film prices on Filmproof to find the best deal.
