About Retrospekt

The Story of Retrospekt

Retrospekt was founded in 2008 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and operates as a workshop and product design studio specialising in restoring vintage electronics, having processed more than 250,000 devices, including Polaroid cameras, Game Boys, cassette players and VCRs.

Retrospekt is not a film manufacturer. Its core business is hardware restoration, and while it markets some products as "Polaroid by Retrospekt," reflecting licensed refurbishment work on vintage cameras, the film it sells is sourced from established manufacturers rather than produced in-house.

Retrospekt's Camera Film Ranges

Retrospekt sells a curated selection of film to go alongside its restored cameras, including Polaroid 600 and SX-70 instant film in both colour and black and white, Fujifilm Instax Mini, Kodak Gold 200 and UltraMax 400 in 35mm, Fujifilm 200 and 400, and Ilford FP4 Plus and HP5 Plus, including disposable camera options. It's less a distinct film brand and more a one-stop shop to pair with a freshly restored vintage camera.

Choosing the Right Retrospekt Film

If you've picked up a restored vintage Polaroid or film camera from Retrospekt, its curated film range makes it easy to get shooting straight away without sourcing film elsewhere. Compare Retrospekt film prices on Filmproof.
