Revolog is an Austrian film brand famous for baking special effects, lightning bolts, colour streaks, starfields and light leaks, directly into the film itself, so the effect appears in-camera with no editing required. Handmade in Vienna, Revolog film is a favourite for photographers chasing bold, unrepeatable creative effects. Compare Revolog film prices on Filmproof.

Revolog was founded in 2010 in Vienna, Austria, by Hannah Pribitzer and Michael Krebs, who met while studying photography. The brand grew out of a diploma project exploring artificially "aged" film, which evolved into a dedicated line of special-effect films treated to produce dramatic, built-in visual effects.
Revolog keeps its exact production process private, describing it as a trade secret, but confirms that it starts with standard film stock and manually treats and exposes it in the darkroom to create its signature effects, rather than coating its own raw emulsion from scratch. Every roll is marketed as handmade in Vienna, with some natural variation from batch to batch, part of what makes each roll feel a little unpredictable and personal.
Revolog's range reads like a menu of visual effects: Kolor adds unpredictable streaks of colour across each frame, Tesla bakes in electric, lightning-like patterns (available in colour, II and black and white versions), and Kosmos creates a starfield or galaxy-like effect over your images.
Nebula, Echo, Lazer, Rasp and Streak each offer their own distinctive colour or light effect, while Snovlox and Plexus lean into textured black and white looks. The 460nm and 600nm films apply an infrared-style colour shift, available in both 35mm and 120 format, and Paper mimics the texture of aged photographic paper.
If you want dramatic colour streaks, start with Kolor. For an electric, lightning-lit look, try Tesla. Want a dreamy, cosmic feel to your photos? Kosmos is built for exactly that. Because effects are baked into the film itself, results appear straight out of the camera with no editing needed, part of the appeal for photographers who want instant, one-of-a-kind results.
